School resource officer Marjory Stoneman Douglas has been suspended without paying wages after County Browiff County Scott Sheriff says that the video shows that he took a stand-by during the shooting but never attended school.

Israel announced on Thursday that the decision to postpone Deputy Scot Peterson was made after reviewing videos of the shootings and taking statements from witnesses and Peterson himself, Israel said.

"He should go in, talk to the killer, kill the killer," said Israel.

Peterson was armed and on campus during the Israeli shootings. Because he qualified for retirement, Peterson chose to resign after he was told he was suspended, Israel said.

Israel says that the video shows Peterson arriving on the west side of Building 12, where most of the murders took place. He then took the position but "never got in."

The video showed that Peterson remained outside the building for four minutes in the shooting, which lasted about six minutes, Israel said. In addition to getting "on his radio," Peterson did "nothing" while standing outside the building, Israel said.

When the shooting started, Peterson was in an office dealing with "school-related issues," Israel said.

When asked by reporters to describe how the video made her feel, Israel responded, "Sick my stomach" and "crushed."

"It does not matter who gets in first, no matter in what order you're in," he said. "The important thing is when we in law enforcement arrive at an active shooter, we go in and meet the target and that's what it should be doing."

Peterson was named this year's school resources officer in Parkland in 2014, after he attended school for five years, the records showed. According to a booklet announcing the award, Peterson has "proven reliable in dealing with issues with decisions and judgments" and was active in mentoring and counseling students that year.

Peterson was also nominated for Parkland representatives in 2017, an internal memo from the sheriff's office dated March 27, 2017, the show.

Two other deputies were placed on a limited task while the sheriff's office investigated whether they "could" or "should have done more while dealing with the suspect, the 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, in the middle of the 23 calls they received involving Cruz or his brother since 2008, says Israel.

From the appeal, investigators feel that two cases "need extra checks" to see if there is a policy violation by the deputies involved.

Cruz was arrested shortly after the shooting and was charged with 17 murder plans. He was detained in Broward County Prison.

On Wednesday, Israel announced that Broward County's deputy sheriff would now be carrying AR-15 weapons in the school's yard in the district, adding that one way to make schools safer is to evaluate the number of school resource personnel on campus.
